Fake Evri and DPD parcel texts

Scammers send these in the carriers' names. Both say they never ask for a redelivery fee by text. A real Evri text comes from "Evri", and a real DPD text from DPD UK, DPD Local or DPDgroup UK.1,2

Evri: We could not deliver your parcel today. Pay a £1.45 redelivery fee2 or it will be returned to sender within 12 hours3: evri-redeliver.example.net

Please reply Y, then reopen this message to activate the link.4

  1. The sender is an email address in iMessage. DPD says that means a scam, and that its real alerts go by SMS. Evri texts only ever come from "Evri".2,1
  2. A fee to redeliver. Evri never asks for payment to reschedule, and DPD never asks for a redelivery fee through a link.1,2
  3. A deadline. "Returned to sender" or "destroyed" is how scammers rush you, DPD says.2
  4. "Reply Y". Replying switches off the protection your phone adds, so the link opens.1

What to do Don't reply or tap. Forward the text to 7726, then delete it. Track the parcel on the carrier's own site or app.3,2

Rebuilt from Evri's and DPD's own scam pages; the sender, fee and address are made up. Checked 1 November 2026 against the sources.

Why the text asks you to reply Y

Evri explains the trick on its fraud page.1

  1. "Please reply Y."The text asks for a one-letter answer, which feels harmless.1
  2. You "accept" the sender.Replying marks the sender as genuine, so the link can be opened directly. That disables protection added by your mobile provider.1
  3. The link opens.Whatever you enter on the site goes straight to the fraudster.2 Evri is a verified sender, so its real texts are never marked as potential spam.1

If you got one

  1. Forward the text to 7726. It's free, and most UK providers use it to trace and block the sender.3 On an iPhone you can also tap "Report Junk".2
  2. Send scam emails to report@phishing.gov.uk.2 If it names Evri, Evri asks for a screenshot at phishing@hermes-europe.co.uk.1 Where to report each kind of scam
  3. If you typed card details, call your bank now. If you typed a password, change it.2
  4. If you lost money or got a scam call, report it to Report Fraud at reportfraud.police.uk.1

Questions people ask

Does Evri text you?

Yes. Evri texts or emails to say your parcel is in its network, sometimes with a tracking link, and about claims. Those texts come from "Evri", not a mobile number.1

Will DPD text me?

Yes, DPD sends automated alerts by SMS from DPD UK, DPD Local or DPDgroup UK. The retailer's name appears inside the message, not as the sender.2

I clicked the link. What now?

If you entered bank details, contact your bank to freeze your cards. If you entered a password, change it on every account that uses it.2 The NCSC has steps for anyone who shared personal information.3

A parcel I didn't order turned up. Is that a scam?

It could be "brushing", where sellers send unordered parcels to create fake reviews. Evri says there's no need to worry: report it to the marketplace or retailer on the label.1
